I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. - Anne of Green Gables
It's crazy that it's already October. I know there are some people who agree with me. Time for pumpkin flavored things and the most perfect weather in my opinion. Wow, starting off the blog post by talking about the weather. Maybe you're thinking I must not have that much to say about the week. You're wrong!
Early in the week, I participated in a sport day. It was so fun!

Although I was not there for its entirety, I did get to witness a LOT of soccer playing, kids running around the school building, learning about first aid and CPR and an adorable tug-of-war game among the first graders. The students burnt off a lot of energy in the sunshine. I secretly hope that their energy is still burnt off this week...
This weekend was action-packed. Friends from the U.S. came to represent Mission of Christ Network and to run a parent and teacher workshop. The rest of the Hungary mission team came from Budapest too! I believe it was a success. It was held at the Emmaus church in the suburbs of Nyiregyhaza, conveniently where I got to church on Sunday. My friends Pat and Kay had their presentation with the parents of students from the Kossuth kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. It being very Christ centered I think was very interesting and helpful for the parents in attendace. I came to realize how talented translators have to be. We definately had a great translator. The presentation was about having a Christ centered relationship with your children and how to do that. Many of the parents that I talked to afterward said they learned so much and was interested in the American perspective on Christian family life.
The next day was exclusively for teachers. These were teachers from all the Kossuth schools. I think many of the teachers were lamenting over the fact that they could not spend much needed time with their children on Saturday. It was also very nice outside. Most people took the program very seriously though. It was actually pretty fun. I helped with many of the games. They were mostly ice breaker games and get-to-know-you games that teachers could use in their own classrooms. It's good to laugh at yourself, and I gave many people the opportunity to laugh at me. I think it was also good that many teachers that I work with on a daily basis were there to see me and their fellow teachers in a different environment. It brought everyone closer together. Pat also talked about how to be an example for students and how to talk about faith with students. When all was said and done, teachers very much enjoyed themselves and the MCN team looked forward to hanging out with native English speakers. Everyone left from Nyiregyhaza today, either by rented car or by train. I'll see them again soon, and I hope they have a great October too.
